The Art-Ekwi Property consists of a 49 claim unit covering 2530.85 acres in the Godlin Lakes area of the Northwest Territories approximately 170 kilometers west of Norman Wells. The claims are 100% owned by Eagle Plains Resources Ltd. and carry no underlying royalties or encumbrances.
History
The Mackenzie Mountain Zn-Pb belt was actively explored in the 1970s with more than 100 showings discovered, but exploration ceased in the late 1970s owing to low commodity prices and the remoteness of the area. Interest in the Mackenzie Mountain Zn-Pb belt is undergoing a revival as a result of higher commodity prices and the prospect of an improvement in infrastructure related to hydrocarbon exploration.
The initial discovery of sphalerite mineralization in a carbonate hosted breccia zone was made in 1972 by Pete Risby. The discovery area was staked as the ART claims on behalf of Welcome North Mines Ltd. In 1973, the EKWI claims were staked to consolidate extensions of the mineralization. The claims were optioned to Conwest Exploration Ltd. in 1973 who carried out prospecting, trenching, chip sampling, geochemical sampling and mapping and limited diamond drilling. The claims lay dormant for over 25 years until they were staked by Eagle Plains Resources Ltd. in 2005.

focused on re-sampling of known showings to confirm the nature and grade of the mineralization, as well as geological observations and limited mapping to determine the relationship of the Art-Ekwi showings to other mineralization in the district.
